Driving Lessons in Abingdon and Oxford

Theory

It is best to start learning for the theory test at the same time as you start your driving lessons. That way the theory and the practical driving complement eachother. You are able to understand the theory questions much easier in the light of your practical driving.

The theory test has  total of 50 questions and 15 hazard perception clips. The theory test questions have a pass mark of 86% or 43 out of 50.

With each question there are several possible answers and you have to select the correct answer or answers – some questions may need more than one answer.

If you are not sure of an answer you can ‘flag’ questions that you want to come back to later in the test.

Some questions will be given as a “case study”. This involves a short story based on real life situations that a motorist may face with several questions based on it.

A total of 57 minutes is allowed, after which the Hazard Perception Test starts. A total of 14 video clips are shown and the candidate has to identify a total of 15 developing hazards. A maximum score of 5 points is available for each clip and the pass mark is 44 out of 75.

It is necessary to pass both the multiple choice part and hazard perception part of the test at the same time and the theory test has to be passed before you can apply for the practical driving test.
